Understanding how to fund care at home can be confusing. There are several options available depending on your financial situation, health needs, and local authority. At Divine Health Services, we accept all major funding routes and our team can guide you through the process from start to finish.

Whether you are self-funding, receiving local authority support, or eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare, we work with you to ensure you receive the best possible care under The Divine Standard — regardless of how it is funded.

How Can You Fund Your Care?

Self-Funding

If you have savings and assets above the upper capital limit (currently £23,250 in England), you will be expected to fund your own care. This is the most common way our clients pay for care. Self-funding gives you complete freedom to choose your care provider, the level of care you receive, and when it starts.

Complete choice over your provider
No waiting for council assessments
Care can start within 24 hours
Clear monthly invoicing via direct debit

Most of our clients are self-funders who value the quality and transparency of The Divine Standard.

Local Authority Funding

If your savings and assets are below £23,250, your local authority may contribute towards your care costs. You will need a needs assessment from your council, followed by a financial assessment to determine how much you will need to contribute.

Means-tested financial support
Council arranges or contributes to care
You can still choose DHS as your provider
Top-up payments accepted

Even with council funding, you have the right to choose your care provider. We can help you navigate this process.

Direct Payments

Direct payments are funds given to you by your local authority so you can arrange your own care, rather than having the council arrange it for you. This gives you maximum control over who provides your care and how it is delivered.

You choose your care provider
Funds paid directly to you
Can be topped up with own funds
DHS accepts direct payments

NHS Continuing Healthcare

NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is a package of care arranged and funded solely by the NHS for individuals who have a "primary health need." If eligible, the NHS pays for all of your care — it is not means-tested. This is the most comprehensive funding option available.

100% funded by the NHS
Not means-tested
Requires a clinical assessment
DHS is an approved NHS provider

Our nurse-led team can help you understand whether you may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare and support you through the assessment process.

Attendance Allowance

Attendance Allowance is a tax-free benefit for people aged 65 or over who need help with personal care due to a physical or mental disability. It is not means-tested and can be used to contribute towards the cost of care at home.

Lower rate: £72.65 per week
Higher rate: £108.55 per week
Not means-tested
Can be used alongside other funding

Other Options

There are additional ways to fund care at home that may be available to you, depending on your circumstances.

Equity Release: Releasing equity from your home to fund care. We recommend seeking independent financial advice.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP): For those under 65 with a long-term health condition or disability.
War Pension: Veterans may be eligible for additional funding through the War Pension Scheme.
Charitable Grants: Various charities offer grants to help with care costs for specific conditions.
