Social Companionship

Meaningful social interaction to combat loneliness and keep you connected with the world around you.

Loneliness and social isolation are among the greatest challenges facing older people in the UK today. At Divine Health Services, our social companionship service is designed to combat these issues by providing meaningful, genuine human connection — right in the comfort of your own home or out in the community.

More Than Just a Visit

Our companionship service goes far beyond simply "checking in." Our carefully selected companions are warm, engaging individuals who genuinely enjoy spending time with the people they visit. Whether it is sharing a cup of tea and a chat, playing board games, looking through old photographs, or simply sitting together in comfortable silence, our companions adapt to what you need on any given day.

"I like to chat away and the girls have no issue with this. They do not rush me and take their time to help me with my needs. They are professional and kind and pleasant. I like all the girls that come into my home."

Activities and Outings

Staying active and engaged is vital for both physical and mental health. Our companions can accompany you on walks in the park, trips to the shops, visits to friends and family, or outings to local cafes, libraries, and community groups. If you have hobbies you would like to continue — gardening, crafts, reading, puzzles — your companion will be happy to join in.

The Impact of Companionship

Research consistently shows that regular social interaction improves mental health, reduces the risk of cognitive decline, and even boosts physical health outcomes. Many of our clients tell us that their companion visits are the highlight of their week. As one daughter shared with us, her mother "looks forward to the daily visits and interacting with all the carers. They have learnt about her life and she enjoys listening to them telling her about their lives."

Supporting Family Carers Too

Our companionship service also provides valuable peace of mind for family members. Knowing that your loved one has regular, reliable company — someone who genuinely cares about their wellbeing — can relieve a great deal of worry and stress. As Lynette G. told us, "It has taken a lot of the pressure off my sister and I."

Flexible and Personalised

We offer companionship visits at times that suit you, from a couple of hours a week to daily visits. Each visit is tailored to your interests, preferences, and mood on the day. There is no rigid schedule — just genuine, person-centred companionship that enriches your life.
