A Comprehensive Induction Programme

Every new member of the Divine Health Services team completes a thorough induction programme before they begin working with clients. This programme covers the essential skills and knowledge required for safe, effective homecare, including:

• Safeguarding adults and children — recognising and reporting signs of abuse or neglect
• Medication management — safe administration, storage, and recording
• Infection prevention and control — hand hygiene, PPE use, and environmental cleaning
• Manual handling — safe techniques for moving and positioning clients
• Health and safety — risk assessment, fire safety, and lone working protocols
• Person-centred care — understanding individual needs, preferences, and dignity

New carers also shadow experienced colleagues during their first visits, allowing them to observe best practice in real-world settings before taking on responsibilities independently.

Specialist Training for Complex Needs

Beyond the core induction, we provide specialist training modules tailored to the specific needs of our clients. This includes training in dementia care, end-of-life support, stoma and catheter care, diabetes management, and mental health awareness. Our clinical team delivers much of this training in-house, ensuring that it is practical, relevant, and aligned with the latest evidence-based practice.

We also partner with external training providers and healthcare professionals to offer accredited courses, giving our carers the opportunity to gain formal qualifications such as the Care Certificate and NVQ/QCF diplomas in health and social care.

Ongoing Professional Development

Training does not stop after induction. At Divine Health Services, we are committed to continuous professional development for every member of our team. This includes regular refresher courses, competency assessments, and one-to-one supervision sessions where carers can discuss their experiences, raise concerns, and set personal development goals.

We also hold regular team meetings and workshops, creating opportunities for carers to share knowledge, learn from each other, and stay up to date with changes in legislation, best practice, and company policies.
